Whetstone

Tears of happiness
tip my canoe
capsize my grief
is Dead Sea size

parting your waters
drying up on your dock
beached & benign
belligerently blessed

salty and turned to stone
all from your gaze
lies labyrinthine
Medusa maze

dull as a knife
hugging a whetstone
because you have
lost your edge

you stand there saying “I was right”
I was never good at saying goodbye
